AT Mouse

Version

AT Mouse is a new solution currently in version 1.0. It has not yet been marketed in the public.

Overview

AT Mouse is a tool that provides a significant contribution in order to prevent RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury). As software based solution it can instantly be available for all employees in an organization. As a solution based on keyboard usage, it will also encourage use of regular keyboard shortcuts in general.

AT Mouse lets you utilize multiple parts of the keyboard for mouse cursor navigation and mouse buttons (audible and visible) in a new, efficient and precise way. Both arrow keys, navigation key group and the numeric keyboard (numpad) may be used. Using a regular mouse, AT Mouse will let you place the mouse in predefined physical positions for better and alternative ergonomics, without disturbing the direction the cursor moves on screen. Mouse grid is also implemented for circumstances when that is the most efficient approach. AT Mouse can be configured to remind you to have regular breaks, and also to alert you if you happen to keep your hand on the mouse without actually using it.

Context Click is a new way of mousing, and has the potential to reduce the use of both mouse and keyboard substantially. AT Mouse is learning from users history using algorithms, the most probable places the user would like to go with the mouse. It then presents those places for the user and let the user decide with a single keystroke.

Context Click is planned to be available late February 2008, along with the Hands Off alerts and other break reminders, as well as support for multiple simultaneous mice with their individual orientation.

AT Mouse™ is free to download for evaluation.

Usage

Note: For laptop keyboards and some standard keyboards with key arrangements that differs from standard PC keyboard layout, our choice of some of the keys seem awkward. Later versions will provide customization in that respect.

System Tray Icon

In the System Tray in the Notification Area to the right on the Windows Taskbar, you will find AT Mouse represented by an icon picturing a yellow mouse. (If you dont find this icon, you may not have started AT Template (from the Windows Start Menu), or it may need to expand the Notification Area to show hidden icons.) Clicking on this icon (or pressing ALT+SCRLK) will show you a menu.

Left click

CAPSLOCK, PRTSC, Numeric ENTER if numpad is set up to be used as mouse keys or mouse grid

Right click

ALT+CAPSLOCK, PAUSE

Scrolling

Numeric “+” and “-” if numpad is set up to be used as mouse keys or mouse grid And SCRLK for scrolling down and PAUSE+SCRLK for scrolling up

Moving mouse cursor

When INSERT is pressed, green guidelines appear on screen, and the arrow keys and the navigation keys above are turned into mouse keys.
(Numeric “INS(0)” is preferred to use if numpad is set up to be used as mouse keys or mouse grid.)
DELETE = LEFT, HOME=Up, PAGEDOWN=RIGHT, END=Down
Arrow keys are self explanatory.
If numpad is set to Mouse mode, the arrows at the numpad can be used (without Mouse Lock being activated). The center key 5 will be down.
Pressing once will move cursor at medium speed. Pressing another time (release and repress in fast sequence) will move the cursor at higher speed. Similarly, when repressing the key another time when in high speed, will lower the speed. If then repressed another time speed will be even lower.
When 2 adjacent directions are pressed at the same time, the direction will be the middle of the 2 keys and the cursor will move at the faster speed.
To ensure very low speed and hence more precision, press Numeric INS before pressing the arrow key (given numpad is in mouse mode).
To toggle between medium and fast speed when mouse cursor is moving, press right CONTROL key.

Mouse Grid

When numpad is set to Mouse Grid mode, a grid will appear. Press the numpad number 1 to 9 until you have reached the spot you want to press. To exit the onscreen grid without clicking, press the NUMLOCK key.

Mouse orientation

Select on the AT Mouse icon menu the physical mouse orientation you would like to use.
